Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo

The Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo is this Sunday! Anze's Mommy just found pictures of when he was in the Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo last October 2012. Last year was Anze's first time being in the Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo.  He was so excited and dressed up as a dinosaur raptor.

Here is a side view profile of little Anze checking out all the other dogs in costumes.

After walking around so much in his costume, he needed to take a little break.

Anze was enjoying all the excitement at the Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade.

There were a lot of dogs dressed up in some crazy looking costumes.  Some of them were very big and detailed and scared little Anze.  This doxiepin may look fierce, but can be very shy and timid.  Here is a picture of him hiding by his Mommy, looking at the dogs in costumes from afar.

Raptor dog anze!

Here is Anze walking down the line of the entrance of the Pooch Parade.
Anze's Mommy and Daddy got the VIP ticket so Anze could walk in the front starting point of the parade.

Anze was so excited! There were so many things to smell and see!

Anze is doing the raptor walk.. walk walk walk..

Here are some of the creative costumes at the Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade.

The three little pigs..

Big dogs dressing up with their Mommys and Daddys.

So many different Simi Valley vendors.

Anze found another dog wearing the same designer dinosaur costume, but this little pup was a triceratops and Anze was the raptor. It was the perfect picture moment!

Family picture!! Anze's Mommy and Daddy were so proud of this little doxiepin walking in his first Simi Valley Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade.  He can't wait to do it again this year! Stay tuned to see what he will be dressed up as...

Abby's first bath

This is Abby's first bath was a good one. Abby the little doxador dog had her first bath once she felt better and recovered from Parvo. She smelled so good and was all clean and soft after her first bath.

Abby had never experienced taking a bath before.  She was so dirty when she was rescued from the shelter and smelled bad while she was recovering from Parvo.  When the vet said it was finally time and she would be ok to have her first bath, into the tub she went!

This little doxador looks a little confused as to what just happened to her.

Abby's First Scarf Day

Here are some pictures from Abby's first scarf day.  Abby's first scarf day was one of the first Fridays after she recovered from being sick with Parvo.  Abby's Mommy got her a cute pink scarf with a little white flower on it. This was one little stylish doxador puppy!

Abby doesn't want her Mommy to go to work. She wants her to stay and play and cuddle with her.

Happy scarf day!
Scarf day = Every Friday!

Doxador Puppy Is Sick With Parvo

Anze's sister who's a doxador puppy is sick with Parvo.  The little black doxador puppy got sick with Parvo that she acquired when she was at Kern County Animal Shelter. Anze's Mommy and Daddy decided to name this little girl doxador puppy... Abby!  It was the perfect fit! And it went well with Anze's name.  *Anze and Abby*

Abby was the cutest little black doxador puppy, however when she first came home she was very dirty and was infested with ticks and fleas. Anze's parents had to keep her away from Anze.  Anze's parents then found out that the little doxador puppy was very sick with Parvo and tapeworms.  Anze's Mommy gave her some of Anze's Heartguard and Frontline plus medication.

Abby was confined to stay only in the laundry room for a few weeks to trap the deadly virus in there and not expose it to the rest of the house or to Anze.

Poor little Abby didn't feel so well. There were certain signs that led Anze's parents to think she had Parvo and to take her to the vet.  For example, she was not eating, even though there were signs that she was hungry. She was very lethargic and had absolutely no energy.

Abby's Mommy was so proud of this picture because little doxador was able to lift her head up this high.  Parvo can be a very deadly disease and needs to be treated immediately. Abby's parents never experienced this type of illness with Anze before, so they were very scared and wanted to make sure they took all the appropriate and necessary precautions in treating Abby and making sure Anze stayed safe.

This was Abby's living quarters in the laundry room. Another sign of Parvo was that she didn't have bowel movements (aka poop), yet she pooped out yellow liquid. Anze's Mommy and Daddy had to cover the floor in potty pads, especially since the Parvo virus is transmitted through poop and urine and blood.

If you have a sick puppy with Parvo, the vet recommended that you have to keep them hydrated. Therefore, it was recommended that we give Abby Pedialyte to drink as it has a lot of electrolytes and nutrients in the water that keep her hydrated, more than water.  The Pedialyte was a huge success. Abby would drink so much of it, which also meant double pee, and more frequently changing of potty pads.

The Parvo will also make your dog not hungry to eat. So Abby's Mommy had to prepare special meals for her such as baby food mixed with baby rice cereal, rice with cooked chicken or ground beef, boiled chicken with 100% pure canned pumpkin, wet puppy food and anything that Abby liked, her Mommy would make it over again for her to try to eat the next day.

As Abby the little doxador puppy was so sick with Parvo, the vet prescribed her two antibiotics as well as a Sub Q liquid IV drip bag.  Abby's parents couldn't administer the IV, so the Simi Valley Missing Pets & Rescue team gave Abby the injections. Here is a picture of one of the injections that Abby had to go through. She was so squirmy and had to be held by her Daddy through the whole process every day.

Here are some pictures of Abby praying that she gets better after her Mommy gave her medication and antibiotics.

Aside from the medication, Abby's parents also bought and gave her Parvaid as well.  It was highly recommended that we purchase this organic natural remedy.  Abby was so thankful that her parents got it for her.

Anze Gets A Baby Sister

Anze gets a baby sister! Anze was so happy to learn that he was getting a baby sister and was going to be a big brother. Anze's Mommy was friends with someone who is a volunteer for Simi Valley Missing Pets & Rescue and was asked if she could foster a little doxador (half dachshund half labrador) dog.  Once she saw the pictures of the little black puppy on Facebook, she couldn't resist.

Here are pictures of Anze's new baby sister that were posted on Facebook the day that she was rescued by Simi Valley Missing Pets & Rescue. Anze's baby sister was rescued from Kern County Animal Shelter who was closing their doors and was euthanizing animals because they didn't have enough rescue families to adopt and foster.

Anze's baby sister was only two months old when she was rescued back on September 7, 2013.
This was Anze's Mommy holding his baby sister for the first time when the rescue team had just arrived back home from Kern County Animal Shelter.

Now to think of a name for Anze's baby sister...
Anze and his Mommy had to wait for Anze's Daddy to come back from his weekend trip to think of a name for the new baby doxador puppy..
